I was expecting something like this, of course, but I didn't think it would be so surprising. Often – to make you laugh, often – to annoy, even more often – to embarrass. A bright girl living on her own, doing what she wants, doing what her emotion tells her to do at this moment in her life. She changes the world around her and the people who get in her way. The film is essentially quite cute and could have remained in my film library as "bright, funny, light" if not for the director's strange inserts, which probably symbolize something important. And it's natural, everyone knows about it, but it's somehow not accepted to talk about it and show it... I'm talking about menstruation. I've never seen her in such a candid way in a movie! I don't consciously want to take the time to analyze these images; I guess I'm not yet such an enlightened person that I can discuss the peculiarities of the female body without a shadow of embarrassment and examine in detail how this happens. It symbolizes something, or it's just meant to break the patterns of our brains– I do not know.

All in all, it's a strange movie about strange people–a crazy red-haired woman, a doughy hypochondriac, a pretty girl with bandaged breasts, a desperate granny, and a charming African-American man. They smear themselves with paints, do stupid (but not completely meaningless) things, roll naked on the floor, neutralize police officers, lick car windshields – in general, they come off to the fullest, involving us in their pranks and making us think a little about how boring and mundane our ordinary life is, often devoid of a bright range of colors. They are a flash that lasts for a moment, and only memories remain.

That's probably why I didn't like the movie. He and his heroes are the flash. No more than that. A flash illuminates the space for a second, and we, again, see things in a completely different light for a second. But there is no guarantee that a new perception of familiar things will give rise to a change in yourself and your life. Most likely, if I try to become a little like the characters in the movie, I'll make a couple of pathetic attempts at it and give up this strange occupation. Because I don't want to be a one-moment flash. I want to be a long story, with a past, present and future, I want to be a conscious reality, not a dream. It's probably mundane and boring. But on the other hand, I don't have ripples in my eyes from color swirls, and my brain doesn't tend to turn off, being overwhelmed by all sorts of frivolity.
